As Chief Executive Officer at X1, Mark oversees the company’s operations, building on more than 20 years of experience leading rapidly growing companies in new emerging industries.
Mark has previously served as chief revenue officer, president or CEO of five publicly traded companies in the areas of music, gaming, mobile and AI which combined raised financing in excess of $1 billion. During this period, he was chief revenue officer at Sentient Technologies, which raised nearly $180 million, the largest sum at the time for an artificial intelligence (AI) company. Prior to that, Mark was president and CEO of Slyce Technologies, where he led the company’s deployment of a visual search technology that had tremendous success among Fortune 500 companies. Earlier in his career, Mark was a founder of Mood Media, the largest global provider of in-store music and sensory experiences with over $500M in annual revenues, and co-founder and head of revenue for Fun Technologies, an online pay-to-play tournament gaming business which was acquired by Liberty Media for $484M. Mark was a former Grammy awards voting member and Billboard music awards winner. His family founded the iconic Canadian global TV marketing company, K-tel International, a leading disruptor in the music and consumer products industry.
Mark earned a B.B.A. degree from the University of Manitoba. He resides in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area.
Ms. Shorter has over a decade of experience in providing reporting, assurance and accounting services to publicly traded companies, including technology companies. She left public practice in 2011, where she acted in the capacity of Audit Manager with a major Canadian accounting firm, and has since taken on a variety of leadership roles. Her depth of governance and accounting knowledge insures effective implementation and oversight for financial reporting, administration and internal controls development and budgeting for NexOptic. Ms. Shorter completed a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours at the University of British Columbia. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA,CA) and Certified Internal Auditor.
Bill began his career in the capital markets at First Marathon Securities in equity research analysing gold companies. After transitioning to the role of institutional equity sales at National Bank Financial and then Credit Suisse First Boston, Bill joined Haywood Securities Inc. in 2003. He eventually became Managing Director and Head of Equity Sales at Haywood. In late 2020, with twenty five years identifying, analysing, capital raising and strategically advising both investment funds and corporate entities across many sectors, Bill formed LACG Capital Inc. LACG’s mandate is to provide bespoke capital markets advisory services to both public and private companies in the early stages of growth. Bill holds a Master of Science (Econs) degree from the London School of Economic with distinction, and the CFA designation.

Jan has more than 10 years of experience in the esports industry ranging from media, production, player, and professional management. He competed as a professional esports player for mousesports from 2014 to 2015. Later he joined Fnatic as a manager and coach, winning a world championship title in Blizzard’s “Heroes of the Storm” in 2017. From there he was promoted to Head of Team Operations and responsible for leading organisation wide esport operations. His career at Fnatic lasted from 2016 to 2020.
Ms. Latika Prasad has been an Oﬃcer and/or a Director of private and publicly traded companies for 30 years. . She is currently the Corporate Secretary of Realgold Resources Corp. since December 2016. She was a Director and Corporate Secretary of Turmalina Metals Corp. from April 2017 to July 2019 (TSX.V: TBX), and previously, Director and Assistant Corporate Secretary at Wabi Exploration Inc. (CNSX: WAB) from September 2015 to July 2017. She served as the Chief Financial Oﬃcer of Azincourt Resources Inc. (TSX.V: AAZ) from October 2011 until June 2013 and as a Director from May 2011 to April 2013.
Adam is a co-founder of X1 Esports and Entertainment. He is a strong finance professional with expertise in generating awareness and raising capital for private and public companies through an established book of retail and institutional client with a particular focus on overlooked investment opportunities in the natural resources, healthcare, technology, and gaming sectors. Adam holds a B.Comm (Finance) from Concordia University as well as several supplementary certificates including the BMC, CFA (Level 1), and CSC.
Ben is the CEO and Co-Founder of Amuka Esports. His executive experience transcends many different industries. He founded his own film production and media company that served as one of the very early digital agencies with a focus on social media and video content. He later transitioned into the investment banking world by co-founding Amuka Capital, an exempt market dealer that focused on raising capital for real estate, tech and eventually esports companies. Ben has been active very active in the esports industry for the past 6 years as an investor, advisor and content creator.
Matthew B. Schmidt is a technology entrepreneur, film producer and investor. Matthew founded Paradise City Films in 2017 and now predominantly focuses on film finance, development and “film packaging”, working closely with the industries leading agencies. Matthew has produced films of cumulative budgets of over $60 million. Matthew has advised on numerous companies such as, Victory Square Technologies, Immersive Tech and V2 Games. In 2019 Matthew joined Alpha Tech Inc. as a strategic advisor. Within this role he continues to find value in sharing resources between people and companies. Now as interim CEO, Matthew is passionate about building upon the foundation of Alpha Tech Esports, while maintaining a deep sense of culture and purpose.
Alvaro Prol, owner of Blueprint, has established himself in his 19 year history as the industry leader in promoting events and talent buying in Canada. Prol developed the desire to foster and support emerging talent and diverse genres of electronic music. In 1997, Prol launched Blueprint Events and has since grown to push the boundaries of Western Canada’s entertainment scene. Blueprint continues to throw some of the largest and most talked about shows, and brings in the most sought after musical talent, including Skrillex, Diplo, Calvin Harris, ZEDD, and many more of the largest dance acts currently touring.
Adam Ross, Principle at Highland Contact, has built an extensive network of contacts in his fifteen years in the finance industry. He has strong relationships with numerous institutions, brokers and high net worth investors globally, specializing in both the North American and European markets. Beginning his career in Vancouver, Canada, Adam has also worked in Europe and the UK. Adam worked in Switzerland on numerous financings for a Swiss Family office. He also founded Highland Consult. in London, UK where he provided capital markets advisory services.
Ken currently serves as the President NHMM - (Notting Hill Music Masters & Notting Hill Music Management) the record label & management companies set up under the Notting Hill Music Group umbrella, including one of the world’s leading music publishers for the past quarter of a century. Ken is a dedicated, versatile and driven executive who draws from his years’ of experience working inside Sony Music system for over 16 years & Atlantic Records prior to that…as well as from working alongside some of the biggest artists including Michael Jackson at MJJ Music & Justin Timberlake Tennman Records. Ken grew his management skills working along side David Sonenberg & William Derella at DAS Communications.
